The University of Sheffield is leading this collaboration involving academics (University of Liverpool and University of Birmingham), high-profile government partners (the Office for National Statistics) and local community groups (Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association, and Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance).
The team is working together with national and local public policy experts, and local community groups focused on promoting inclusion and wellbeing across different ethnic groups, focusing on those aged 50-74 and 75+.
The project is especially interested in understanding the experiences of ageing and place for African, Caribbean, Roma, Muslim and Irish groups.
The team is being advised by a board of leading and diverse experts, as well as local residents who will help to co-design research and directly work with the team to implement it.
The project also aims to reach:
● Policy makers
● Other community organisations involved in supporting the issues we are researching
● Members of the public
● Students
● Other academics, including those part of the ESRC’s Inclusive Ageing Programme.
